Michael Skinner - President and Chief Executive Officer
Operitel Corporation is one of Canada’s fastest growing e-learning/e-commerce providers. Mr. Skinner has guided Operitel through the many stages of corporate growth including seed investment, management team assembly, resource training, competitive research, product development, client adoption, product marketing, client support and client retention. Mr. Skinner has also played an integral role in building the consulting services division by establishing Operitel as an Independent Software Vendor for Microsoft, as well as a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. Michael developed the methodology and standards for rapid web development that are currently used throughout the Operitel Application Engineering Division.
In addition, Mr. Skinner co-authored the Chapter “Changing your LMS from hype to happiness” which has been published in the “Plan to Learn: Case studies in eLearning Project Management” and “eLearning Project Management: Canadian Perspective”. Mr. Skinner also coauthored two whitepapers on e-learning: Effective Management of Distributed Educational Content and e-commerce and e-learning.
Carlos Oliveira - Vice President of Application Development
As the Vice President of Application Development at Operitel Corporation, Mr. Oliveira is responsible for the development, quality, and delivery of all Operitel products and solutions. From a strategic perspective, Mr. Oliveira enhances the technology direction of Operitel by working closely with the product development team to design and execute enterprise applications. Mr. Oliveira joined the organization in 2001 as a Software Engineer and has served in a variety of application development and management roles. Mr. Oliveira has been primarily responsible for the engineering of the LearnFlex™ LMS. The LearnFlex™ application delivers scalable learning solutions to meet the demand requirements of today’s Learning Enterprise.
Alena Han - Vice President Learning Management
With an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph, over 10 years of Training & Development and Learning Management System experience, Alena Han is the Vice President of Learning Management with Operitel Corporation. In her role Alena is focused on and responsible for the LearnFlex product roadmap through the analysis of the marketplace, partnerships between the major departments within Operitel and federating decisions with the Operitel Advisory Board. She also manages training and development within Operitel. Alena brings both national and international perspectives having worked in Canada, Russia and France bridging the gaps between learning, learning technologies and project management. As a business language solutions trainer in Europe she designed, developed and implemented numerous blended training programs across horizontal markets. Most recently as a Project Manager/Senior Learning Specialist with TELUS, one of Canada’s leading telecommunications companies she led the Learning Management System selection process through which Operitel was selected as the partner of choice. She managed contract negotiations, requirements building, implementation and client communications as well as ongoing management of the system.
